The 24/7 Internet experience
My ADSL line got activated yesterday! Until now I used to go online with a 56K modem over a phone line.. The experience of not having to connect to open a web page is awesome. It’s not that it is brand new to me. Since I’m used to it from the office at the university. But having this at home, is nice!!!
Multithreading Game Engines for Multicore Machines
With all the latest developments in the game console systems and the endorsement of multicore processors, I really got into the path of investigating what will it take to make an existing game engine that was written to run on one CPU, to run on a multicore-multicpu system. Status update
Ok… the party is over. The last few days was full! First of all I spend the weekend at Kastoria. It was perfect. After that the hard work of moving from Ioannina to Larissa was waiting for me. Read the rest of this entry »
Got it!!!
The race is over! The exams (oups.. presentation) started at 13:30!! It was over at 15:00… This is one hour and a half! The outcome: Success!!!
Finally my headaches are over. Now I have nothing to do, and I have to get used to it ![]()
The image in the post is from the reconstructed bust of the famous Charioteer statue, that I used as an example that my reconstuction system works
Waiting for the presentation
Here I am, waiting for my master’s public presentation (which here are Ioannina means examination in public)… It was supposed to start at 12:00 but it will be delayed…
Time goes by so slowly… (Maybe I’m listening to much of mainstream radio stations lately!)

Game development in Greece
In the past I remember my self crying out all the time about the lack of game development in Greece. If you choose to be a programmer in Greece, you will be programming database applications… That was true until recently! Yesterday a friend (and respected graphics coder) decided to drop the bomb on my IM client. The bomb was of many megatons and its contained these two links: Read the rest of this entry »
Creating a benchmark script for Sylphis3D
Suppose that you want to benchmark a 3D game engine. What do you do? The common solution is:
- Have a demo file to play
- Play it on the benchmark machine

Next is a script to do this in Sylphis3D: Read the rest of this entry »
The Lake of Ioannina
The city I am about leave behind is the city of Ioannina. I’ve been living here for two and a half years now and I must say I quite enjoyed it. The setting is magnificent, a vivid scenery. It has it all, mountains, lakes, forests… it even has an island in the lake!
The photograph in the post is from the Lake Pamvotis. The city
lies at the western side of the lake. I don’t think that the
photograph can really describe the real scenery, but you can

I’m going to miss coffee
Now that I’m going to the army, I’m really going to miss moments with friends at cafes. Here in Greece this must be the national sport for college students (and many others). I can’t count how many hours where burned talking about any matter around a table, drinking hot or ice coffee. Especially while I was in Athens, where meeting with friends indoors was hard. Most great ideas (that probably never came to life) where brought up at such places… For example Sylphis3D was designed mostly right there! But is was more than that… we used to talk about open source, politics, women, life, science… or nothing at all… there was no specific goal. Things were coming along… and that is nice.
Cheers my friends!!! Read the rest of this entry »
